RESOLUTION N0~ PC69-239
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNIidG CAMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIA4 RECOA4N~EUDING
TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM THAT GENERAL PLAN AMENDA9Ei4T
, N0. 117 - CIRCULATION ELENENT BE APPROVED CLASSIFYING BLUE GUIJ~
STREET AS A PRIMAP.Y HIGHWAY TF'.ERETO
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim's Highway Rights-of-Way - Circulation Element classifies
Blue Gum Street betvaeen Miraloma Avenue and La Jolla Street as a secondary highway; and
NlHEREAS, the County of Orange Master Plan of Arterial Highways indicates Blue
Gum Street as a prinary arterial highway; and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission did hold a public hearing at the City Hall
in the City of Anaheim on November 17, i969, at 2:00 O~clock P,N~oy notice of said public
hearing having been duly given as required by law and in acco:dance with the provisions
of the Anaheim hiunicipai Code, to hear and consider evidence for and against said
proposed oeneral plan amendment and to investigate and make findings and recommendations
~ in connection therewith; and
WHEREAS, said Commissior., after due inspection, investigation, and study made by
itself and in its behalf, and after due consideration of all evidence and reports
offered at ~aid hearing, does find and determine the following facts:
i. That the County Road Department wi11 amend its Master Plan of Arterial
Highways to show Blue Gum Street south of Miraloma Avenue to La Palma
Avenue, as a secondary highway, and which will be in accord with the
C!ty ~f Anaheim's pr?sent designation following the upgrading of Blue
Gum Street between Miraloma Avenue and La Jolla Street to a primary
highway by the City of Anaheim; and that this mutual action would then
bring the Master Plan of Arterial Streets and Highways of both agencies
into conformance.
'i 2. That Blue Gum Street acts as a feeder between the Orange Freeway and
~ Orangethorpe Avenue and to the industrial complexes along Miraloma
~ i Avenue.
3. 7hat the projected traffic volumes for Slue Gum Street between Miraloma
Avenue and La Jolla Street would be 14,000 to 16,000 ADT; and La Jolla
Street to Orangethorpe Avenue 25,000 to 27,000 ADT.
4. 'Phat reclassification of Blue Gum Street from a seconda:y to a primary
highway between ~Airaloma Avenue and La Jolla Straet is logical because
said street was a key link for industrial developments between the
western portion of the Idortheast Industrial f~rea and the Orange Freeway.
NOW, TNEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Plannina Commission of the City of
Anaheim does hereby recommend to the City Council of the Cit}~ of Anahaim that General
Plan Amendment No. 11? be approved amending the Circulation Element - Hi~hway Rights-
of~Way by designating Blue Gum Street between Miraloma Avenue and La Jolla Street as
a primary highway, based on the foregoing findings.
