A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
THAT PETITION FOR VARIANCE NO. 2180 gE DENIED

WHEREAS, the City Plonning Commiselon did hold a public headng et the City Hell in the City of Aneheim on
June 29, 1970, et 2:00 o'clock P.M., notice of seid public heering heving been duly given es required by

~_I WHEREAS, natd Commission, efter due inepection, investigetion, end study mede by itself and in its behelf,
end efter due conaideration of ell evideace and reFoRs oifered at said hearing, does find and determine the following
facts:
1. Thet the petltioner requesta e variencx from the Aneheim Municipal Code as follows, to cons truct a
new free-standing sign:
a. SECTION 18.37.C40(B-3-a) - Maximum permitted display area. (170 square feet
permitted; 348 square feet propos~.T
b. SECTION 18.37.040(6-4) - Permitted siqn location. (Sign required to be 34
feet from the north property line; sign is proposed
at 32 feet from north property line).
2. That the Sign Ordinance permits adequate siqning of the oroperty without the need
for the requested wai~;ers from Code.
3. That approval of subject petition would encourage requests for further sign deviation
in the comrnercial-recreation area.
4. That the petitioners contention that the size of the sign should be judged by the
area of the property rather than its linaal street frontage was without merit as the
petitioner had sold off adjoining street frontage thereby creating any hardship which may
result.
5. That the Planning Commis~ion is opposed to the granting of any further waivers of the
Sign O~dinance in ihe r,ommercial-recreation area, due to the undesirable unsightly sign
clutter in the area.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED thet the Anaheim City Planning Commission does hereby deny subjpct
Petition for Verience on the besis of the eforementioned findings.
