A P.E50LUTTON OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
ADOPTING AND RECOMMENDING ADOPTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF TNE
CITY OF ANAHEIM GETJERAL PLAN AMENDhiENT N0. 120, THERETO
WHEREAS, the City Council of.the City of Anaheim did adopt a General Plan br Resolution
No. 69R-644 shovaing the general description and er.tent of land uses within the City of
Anaheim and indicating the present policies of the Council as to future development and
redevelopment of land within the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission of the City of Anaheim did consider and determine
that a need existajfor the establishment of small parks to supplement the Cormnunity and
Neighborhood park system within the City; and
Wi~EREAS, the Anaheim General Plan presently does not include such "mini-parks" in the
('ar!cs, Recreation, and Open Spare - Community Facilities Element af said plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission did hold a public hearing at the City Hall in the
City of Anaheim on July 13, 1970, at 2:00 0'clock P.M., notice of said public hearing having
been duly given as required by law and in accordance with the provisions of the Anaheim
Municipal Code, Chapter 18.68, to hear and consider evidence for and against said proposed
general plan amendment, and to investigate and make findings and recommendations in connection
therewith; and
WNEREAS, said Commission, after due inspection, investigation, and study made by itself
and in its behalf, and after due consideration of all evidence and reports offered at said
hearing, does find and determine the following facts:
1. That the Parks and Re~reation Department has recognized a growing need, in certain
areas, for smaller parks to supplement the neigliborhood and comrtiunity parl: concep±s as
projected in the 1959 Master Plan of Parks and the Anaheim General PIan; and that during the
past decade, this potential need has become a reality.
2. That mini-parks are deemed to be appropriate on a general community-wide basis,
but are to be located in those areas of greatest need.
~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Anaheim City Planning Commission does adopt
_ and does recommend to the City Council of the City of Anaheim the adoption of General
_ Plan Amendment No. 120, by the addition to the text of the General Plan - Community Facilities
C-lement - in Planning Area A under Parks, Recreation, and Open Space - Jbjectives and
Policies as follows;
"Design and develop Mini-Parks which supplement the Community and Neighborhood
park systems and help meet special recreation needs."
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mini-Parks shall be defined as folln!vs:
"A park of l;ir:ited size designed to mEet the special needs of cer~ain neighborhoods.
These parks ~~~:-y contain children's play equipment, a multi-purpose court, ar,d picnic
facilities."
