A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISS;ON OF THE C!TY OF ANAHEIM
THAT PETITION FOR. VARIANCE N0. 2419 BE DENIED
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission of the City of Meheim did receive a verified Petition for Variance
from STAPIDARD OIL OF CALIFOKNIA, Poat Office Box 31, Long Fleach, California 90801, Owner;
AMERICAN PERMIT SERVIC'E, Post Office Box 364, La Puente, Colifornia 91747, Agent of certain
rea]. pruperty situated in the City of Ansheim, County of Orange, State of Califorciia, as
described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and referred to herein as though set forth in full
: and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission did hold e publlc hearing at the City Hell in the City of Aneheim
on Auguat 21, 1972 et 2:00 o'cl~ck P.M., natice of said public hearing having been duly given
es required by law end in accordence with the provisions of the Aneheim Municipal code, Chepter 1868.to heac
and consider evidence Eor and egeinst seid proposed conditfonel use and to investigate and meke finaings and
recommendetions in connection therewith; and
WHEREAS, seid Commission, aEter due inspection, investigetion, and study made by itself end in its be-
helf, end e(ter due considewtion of ell evidence and reports offered et seid heering, does find end determine the
(ollowing facts:
1. That the petitioner requests variances from the Anaheim Municipal
Code as follows:
a. SECTION 16.62_090(B-1) - Minimum distance between free-standing
si ns, (300 feet required; 60 feet proposed)
b. SECTION 16.~2•090(B-1) - Maximum number of iree-standing signs.
(2 proposed; 1 permitte3)
c. SECTION 18.62.090(B-2) - Minimum sign height.
(B feet required; 6~ feet proposed)
2. That signino as proposed is far in excess of sig~ing permitted witiiin
the Sign Ordl.nauce, and to grant subject petition would be establish-
ing an undesirable precedent wherein every other service station in
Anaheim could request similar signing.
3. That the Planninq Commission earlier in 1972 had denied a similar
request with a finding that approval wauld establish a precedent
for mass signing of other service stations throughout the city, ar,d
no changes have occurred to warrant fac~orable consideration of this
petition.
4. That the petitioner is proposing tu in~:rease the number of signs or.
these aervice station sites from four i:o eight times that permitted
by Code, thereby automatically grantinc~ the petitioner a privilege
not enjoyed by other commercial and in~iustrial developments through-
out the city.
