WHEREAS, at that tlme, the Plannin~g Commissioii requested tu review the ~evelopment
standards for free~~+ay-oriented si~ns at a separate public heafing fc!~~~W;ng completio~~ of a sign study that

ciocument were, therefore,
WHEREAS, the petitioner (Redevel~pment Agency staff) propcses addinc~ deve.opment
standards for freestandinc~ fr~oway-orisnted signs in Development Aroas 3 and 4 of SpACific Pian ~lo. 9a-1.
WH~REAS, the City Planning Commission did hold a public hearing at the Civic Cent~r in
the City crf Anahoim on July 24, 1995, at 1:30 p.m., notico Af safd public hearfng liaving besn duly given
as requ(red by law and in acc~rdanc~ wrth the provisions ~f tho Anaheim Munlcknal Cada, Chapter 18.03,

Fre~away Oriented Sign DefinBC:
A freestanding identificatian sign whase height, location and si~n copy arr~ designed in a m~nner
whi~h permft;: identffication frorn acljacent fre~ways. A freeway oriente~ business sign st-iall only be
permitted for retail busfnessey of area wide significance or for those businosses which sorve the
immedfate need of tfie highway motarist (e.g. sc~rvica stations, motels and restaurants).
