A RESOLUTION OF THE ANAHEIM CITY PLANNING COMMISSION iNITIATING
GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT NO. 342 TO DELETE CONVENTION WAY
FROM THE CIRCULATION ELEMENT OF THE ANAHEIM GENERAL PLAN
WHEREAS, on January 13, 1997, in response to a request by the City of Anaheim Pr~blic
Works Department, the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) Board of Directors approved an
arr~endment of the Master Plan of Arterial Highways (MPAH) to delete the designation of Convention Way
between Harbor Boutevard and West Street as an arterial highway on the basis that Gonvention Way
provides local access to, and circulation within, the Anaheim Convention Center/hotel complex rather than
through access between West Strest and Harbor Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, OCTA's MPAH amendment is contingent upon the City of Anaheim's
approvai of a General Plan Amendment to amend the Circulation Element to delete Convention Way
between Harbor Boulevard and West Street as an arterial highway; and,
WHEREAS, ths Planning Commission of the City of Anaheim is authorized to initiate
applications for review of General Plan Amendments and desires to initiate General Plan Amendment No.
342 to the Circulation Element of the General Plan to determine whether approval of said General Plan
Amendment would be in the public interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Planning Commission of the City of Anaheim hereby resolves
as follows:
The Planning Commission hereby initiates an application
for General Plan Amendment No. 342 for the purpose of
presenting the General Plan Amendment for study and
consideration at a public hearing.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was adopted at the Planning Commission meeting of
March 30, 1998.
