A RESOLUTION OF THE ANAHEIM CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
INITIATING GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT NO. 364 AND
AMENDMENT NO. 3 TO THE ANAHEIM RESORT SPECIFIC PLAN NO. 92-2
WHEREAS, on April 26, 1999, the Planning Commission of the City of Anaheim did
co~sider a Planning Department request to initiate applications for a general plan an;=ndment to
re-designate certain property in the Anaheim Resort area from Medium Density Residential land
use to Commercial Recreational land use and an amendment to Specific Plan No. 92-2 to
reclassify said property from the RM-1200 (Residential, Multiple-Family) zone to Anaheim Resort
Specific Plan zoning; and
WHEREAS, the subject property consists of four parcels on 0.73 acres located at the
northwest corner of Casa Grande Avenue and Casa Vista Street and having frontages of 293 feet
on the north side of Casa Grande Avenue and 82 feet on the west side of Casa Vista Street, and
further described as 1175 - 1193 Casa Grande Avenue; that the property is developed with 34
guest rooms which are pari of an existing 100-room motel (Best Western Pavillions tilotel); and
that the property is zoned RM-1200 and is designated for Medium Densiry Resideniial I~nd use by
the Land Use Element of the Anaheim General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the balance of the Best Western Pavillions Motel (consisting of the motel
lobby and 66 guest rooms) is located on a contiguous parcel to the north which fronts on Katella
Avenue; and that said parcel is in the Anaheim Resort Specific Plan No. 92-2 zone and is
designated for Commercial Recreatian land uses; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission is authorized to initiate applications for general
plan amendments and specific plan amendments, and desires to initiate General Plan
Amendment No. 364 and Amendment No. 3 to The Anaheim Resort Specific Plan No. 92-2, as
requested, to determine whether the proposed applications would be in the public interest and
would serve the purposes of implementing the General Plan and enabling orderly development of
the underlying property and surrounding area; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of
Anaheim does hereby initiate the following:
(a) General Plan Amendment No. 364 to amend the Land Use Element of the City of
Anaheim General Plan to re-designate the 0.73-acre subject property from Medium Density
Residential land uses to Commercial Recreation land uses; and
(b) Amer~dment No. 3 to the Anaheim Resort Specific Plan No. 92-2 to reclassify the subject
property from the RM-1200 (Residential, Wtultiple-Family) zone to Anaheim Resort Specific Plan
No. 92-2 zoning; and to amend the specific plan text, exhibits, and zoning and development
standards in Chapter 18.48 (SP 92-2) of the Anaheim Municipal Gode to reflect said
reclassification. .
