Dear Mayor and Council Members,
My name is Rodney Harada and I have been residing at S. Hayward St, Anaheim.
I fully support 100% on the Conditional use of Permit 2237 of Anaheim Lodge Motel.
1. Construct an eight (8) foot high decorative block wall along the property line abutting the
residential units to the west of the property as set in Table 46-A in Title 18 Zoning, 18.46.110
Screening, Fences, Wall and Hedges
2. The landscape buffer area between the wall and parking lot shall remain enclosed with a six
(6) foot high chain link fence with locked gate to prevent people from entering the area
accordance with Plans. This area shall be clean and clear of all debris and be maintained in good
condition at all time. Signs containing the words “No Trespassing 602 (K) P.C.” shall be posted at
the entrance of the of the chain-link fence.
3. Increase the wall height of South property line up to six (6) feet to prevent and prohibit
prowlers jumping over from the motels.
We have moved here from Japan in 1979 and have experienced several police incident, it was like
watching the TV show COPS from our backyard. It’s been relatively quiet in early 2020’s, but I have
noticed things were getting worse. Below are the things I have experienced the past 3 yrs:
1. Mandatory evacuation 5am due shooting at the Motel.
2. Witnessed people trespassing to use our neighborhood as a short cut to the park.
3. Witnessed someone flicking a cigarette from the Motel area during the dry summer time.
Reported to Anaheim police, no action was taken.
4. 2 hunting arrows stuck in the middle of the yard. Reported to Anaheim police again no action
was taken.
5. Constant peeping over the wall.
I’m sure the additional wall will not eliminate all of the issues, but it will help eliminate some and it will
help us sleep better at night. We beg City of Anaheim for the additional protection by building the wall
and additional policing backside of the motels.
Thank-you
Rodney Harada
S. Hayward St. Anaheim.
