RES-2022-072RESOLUTION NO. 2022-072 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM RATIFYING THE EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE COUNTY OF ORANGE EXTENDING THE CONTRACT TERM FOR ONE YEAR AND THE ACCEPTANCE OF FUNDING ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM FOR THE JUVENILE JUSTICE CRIME PREVENTION ACT (JJCPA), AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS WHEREAS, the State of California, Board of State and Community Corrections has allocated Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act (JJCPA) funding to the County of Orange, to the Orange County Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council (JJCC) which is responsible for adopting the Orange County Comprehensive Multi -Agency Juvenile Justice Plan (CMJJP); WHEREAS, the JJCC annually recommends the allocation of funding available under the Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act (JJCPA); WHEREAS, the JJCC funding included a pilot program for the North School Mobile Assessment and Resource Team (NSMART), which includes the County of Orange, City of Anaheim Police Department, City of Garden Grove Police Department, and City of Irvine Police Department; WHEREAS, the City executed a Memorandum of Understanding between the County of Orange, City of Anaheim, City of Garden Grove Police Department, and City of Irvine Police Department to participate in the NSMART; WHEREAS, the County of Orange has allocated JJCPA funding to the City of Anaheim Police Department in support of the NSMART; WHEREAS, the City is familiar with the terms, conditions and limitations as set forth in the Memorandum of Understanding; and WHEREAS, the City is willing and able to conform to each of the terms, conditions and limitations imposed in the Memorandum of Understanding; and WHEREAS, the City has been awarded and desires to accept the Funding. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim as follows: 1. The execution of the Second Amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding for the Funding by the Police Chief on behalf of the City of Anaheim, a public entity established under the laws of the State of California, to the County of Orange is hereby ratified and approved, with the contract being extended for one year, from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. 2. The City Council of the City of Anaheim hereby agrees to, and by this resolution does, accept the funding without further action of the City Council being required therefor. 3. The City of Anaheim hereby agrees to comply with each and all of the terms, conditions and limitations as set forth in the Memorandum of Understanding, and the Anaheim Police Chief or his designee is hereby authorized and directed to execute any agreements, amendments, assurances, or other documents that are required or necessary in connection with the acceptance or implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding.
