A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF
POLICE TO SUBMIT A GRANT PROPOSAL ON
BEHALF OE THE CITY OF ANAHEIM TO THE
OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING FOR
THE DELINQUENCY PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION
(DPI) PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires to undertake a
certain project designated "Gang Activity Intervention Team"
to be funded from funds made available through the
Intervention Component of the Delinquency Prevention and
Intervention (DPI) Program administered by the Office of
Criminal Justice Planning, hereafter referred to as OCJP;
WHEREAS, the Delinquency Prevention and Intervention
(DPI) Program makes funds available to promote prevention
and intervention programs for juveniles "at risk" for gang
and other criminal activities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to apply for fund
for the purpose of funding salary and benefits for one (1)
Gang Investigator to provide intervention activities for
juveniles "at risk" for gang and other criminal activities,
to protect students and school personnel in the City of
Anaheim from gang and youth violence;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. The Chief of Police of the City of Anaheim is
hereby authorized, on behalf of the City of
Anaheim, to submit a proposal for Grant Funds in
the amount of Ninety-Nine Thousand, Nine Hundred
Ninety-Nine Dollars ($99,999), to the Office of
Criminal Justice Planning (OCJP), and to execute
on behalf of the City of Anaheim all required
grant documents, including any extensions and
amendments thereof, under the (DPI) Program and
funding terms and conditions of OCJP.
2. The grant funds received hereunder shall be used
for salary and benefits for one (1) school gang
diversion officer to provide intervention in gang
and other criminal activities to protect students
and school personnel in the City of Anaheim from
gang and youth violence, and shall be used to
supplement, and not to supplant, local funding.
3. It is agreed that any liability arising out of the
performance of this Grant Award, including civil
court actions for damages, shall be the
responsibility of the grant recipient and the _
authorizing agency. The State of California and
OCJP disclaim responsibility for any such
liability.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 23rd day of
