AN (UN -CODIFIED) ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
ESTABLISHING THE CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION LIMIT FOR THE
ELECTION CYCLE COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 2023, PURSUANT TO
ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 1.09.050
WHEREAS, Section 1.09.050 of Chapter 1.09 of Title 1 of the Anaheim
Municipal Code provides that no person shall make, and no candidate or candidate controlled
committee shall accept, any contributions for a city election which would cause the total amount
contributed by such person to such candidate or controlled committee to exceed the Contribution
Limit amount as established by that section; and
WHEREAS, the contribution limit for the election cycle ending December 31,
2022, was $2,200; and
WHEREAS, paragraph .0502 of subsection .050 of Section 1.09.050 provides that
the City Council shall, by ordinance, adjust the campaign contribution limitation in January of
odd -numbered years to reflect any cumulative increase or decrease in the Consumer Price Index
for all urban consumers for the Los Angeles -Riverside -Orange Counties Urban Area as
announced by the United States Department of Labor since the last adjustment, and that such
adjustments shall be rounded off to the nearest hundred dollars for the limitations on
contributions; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Labor Statistics recently revised the CPI geographical
regions for metropolitan statistical areas, which revised the "Los Angeles -Riverside -Orange
Counties Urban Area" to "Los Angeles -Long Beach -Anaheim, CA"; and
WHEREAS, the change in the CPI for "Los Angeles -Long Beach -Anaheim, CA".
for the two-year period following the last adjustment to the campaign contribution limit in
January 2021, is a cumulative increase of 11.8%; and
WHEREAS, a 11.8% increase in the previous campaign contribution limit of
$2,200 equals $2,460, which, rounded to the nearest $100 as required by Section 1.09.050,
makes the maximum campaign contribution limit for the election cycle commencing January 1,
2023, $2,500.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
HEREBY ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
$2,500.
SECTION 1.
Effective January 1, 2023, the campaign contribution limit for a city election shall be

The City Clerk shall notify all candidates for city office of the amount of the campaign
contribution limit then in effect.
