69R-163WHEREAS Lakeview Avenues north of the Santa Ana
River, in the East Anaheim area, will eventually extend across
the Santa Ana River and terminate at the Santa Ana Canyon Road;
and
WHEREAS, Crescent Drive;, which is presently a narrow
residential street in the Peralta Hills area, extending southerly
from the Santa Ana Canyon Road, is indicated on the Circulation
Element Highway Rights of Way of the General Plan to become
an arterial highway in its western portion; and
WHEREAS, ultimately, Lakeview Avenue and Crescent Drive
are, proposed tocbe one continuous link in the arterial streets
system in this area; and
WHEREAS, the State. Highway Department indicates that,
in constructing the new Riverside Freeway through this area,
it will be able to use only one name on the freeway to designate
these two streets, and that the name "Lakeview Avenue" is proposed
to be used; and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission has, by Resolution
No. PC69 -54, recommended to the City Council that Crescent Drive,
extending southerly from the Santa Ana Canyon Road to its easterly
extension, located approximately 500 feet south of Cerro Vista
Drive, be renamed Lakeview Avenue; and
WHEREAS, after a thorough study of the matter, the City
Council does find that the assignment of the name "Lakeview
Avenue" to that portion of Crescent Drive extending southerly
from the Santa Ana Canyon Road to its easterly extension, located
approximately 500 feet south of Cerro Vista Drive, will result
in less confusion to the public, and that by reason of the
foregoing facts, public convenience and necessity require that
said name be changed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED. by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the name of that portion of Crescent
Drive extending southerly from the Santa Ana Canyon Road to its
easterly extension, located approximately 500 feet south of
Cerro Vista Drive, be, and the same is hereby changed to
Lakeview Avenue.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Cities of Orange and
Villa Park, and the County of Orange be, and they are hereby
urged to assign the name "Lakeview Avenue" to any extension of
the proposed arterial highway alignment through their respective
jurisdictions, as indicated on the Orange County Master Plan of
Arterial Streets and Highways.
