Dear Anaheim City Council,
After hearing Mr. Donaldson's issues with trash at the council meeting tonight, I would like to echo that my HOA had
similar experiences with at least three missed waste pick-ups of individual carts over the last few months.
Regarding improvement opportunities, I would like to know if we can make reporting missed pick-ups easier. The
Anaheim customer service number (800-700-8610) often has hold times. One of my residents had to wait nearly an hour
on hold to speak with Republic Services to report a missed pick-up. The Republic Services website also has a chatbot to
report a missed pick-up, but that redirects you to the online report form, which isn't able to locate our service address to
utilize. I'm unsure if this is an issue specific to my community. I would like to see us find a way to report missed pick-ups
as efficiently as possible, whether being able to leave a message on the automated phone tree or an easy online
submission. There is no need to reach a representative to verify all my customer information before I can report a
missed pick-up that applies to everyone on my street.
Our community heavily relies on timely waste pick-up because the trash is what draws random individuals into our
private community. In each of those three instances, we experienced escalated trespassing, overturned carts to clean
up, porch thefts, and vandalism every night until the waste was picked up.
Respectfully,
Anh Pham
