A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM APPROVING A COOPERATIVE FIRE
PROTECTION AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA
DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FIRE PROTECTION,
AND AUTHORIZING THE ANAHEIM FIRE CHIEF TO
EXECUTE THE OPERATING PLAN AND ANY OTHER
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED IN CONNECTION WITH THAT
AGREEMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim has maintained an Agreement with the California
Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) since 1992, for CAL FIRE to provide fire
protection for up to 3802 acres of land in the East end of the City which is designated as a Very
High Fire Hazard Severity Zone; and
WHEREAS, Anaheim now desires to enter into a fire protection Agreement with CAL
FIRE for fiscal year 2023/24 for the continued protection of 3802 acres in Anaheim's wildland
area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Anaheim hereby authorizes and approves
an Agreement with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE),
commencing on July 1, 2023 and ending on June 30, 2024 for CAL FIRE to provide fire protection
for 3802 acres in Anaheim's wildland area.
Section 2. The Anaheim Fire Chief is hereby authorized to execute the Operating Plan
required for the aforementioned agreement with CAL FIRE and to execute any other documents
or take any other actions necessary for implementation of that Agreement.
