1. CALL TO ORDER: The Community Services Board meeting was called to order at 5:44 p.m. by Vice Chair
Wilson.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Board Member Brio led the Board in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None.
5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Vice Chair Wilson presented the January 9, 2020 Minutes to Board
Members for changes and/or corrections. Board Member Brio made a motion to approve the
January 9, 2020 meeting minutes, seconded by Board Member Ma’ae; motion was voted with four votes in
favor and no abstentions. Vice Chair Wilson accepted the minutes.
6. NEW BUSINESS:
A. Samueli Foundation Investment in Anaheim
1) Joe Perez provided the CSB with an overview of the Anaheim Community Impact Grant (ACIG)
program that will provide supportive services at key city facilities throughout Anaheim. A call for
proposals was initiated by the Samueli Foundation in partnership with the Anaheim Community
Foundation whereby $150,000 was made available to non-profit agencies to address community
needs at youth centers, community centers, libraries, and the Oak Canyon Nature Center.
Each facility will be a distribution point and serve as a hub for programming:

Will provide art and music programming for seniors
two-three times per week, year-round.

MOMS Orange County Will provide parenting education and support
classes.

will allow kids and parents to play the sport
together.

Central Library Child Creativity Lab
Will provide Science, Technology, Engineering,
Arts, Math (STEAM) programming to youth
participants via toolkits that will be created and
distributed at the Central Library.
Ponderosa Park Family
Resource Center
Community Action
Partnership of Orange
County (CAPOC)
Will provide financial literacy programming and
financial education programs year-round to parents.
Miraloma Family
Resource Center
O.M.I.D. Institute
Will provide one-on-one and group counseling
through social work interns to support individual and
families with mental health needs.
The Priority Center Will provide parent education program that will
support the work being done by OMID Institute.
Sunkist Branch Library Microsoft
Will provide a technology program and training to
teens from the City’s Project S.A.Y. Youth Program
at Katella High School with the intent of having them
become subject matter experts with computer
technology to teach area senior citizens.
Oak Canyon Nature
Center Inside the Outdoors
Will provide outdoor educational classroom
programming to engage children in nature through
camps and field excursions.
7. PREVIOUS BUSINESS:
A. FY2020/21 CDBG Funding
1) Approval of Funding Recommendation: Joe Perez indicated that the Federal allocation of funding
will likely occur April/May 2020 and that any adjustments to the CSB’s preliminary budget
recommendation will be made at that time, if needed.
2) FY2021/22 CDBG Application Funding Cycle: Joe Perez shared that the FY2021/2022 CDBG
Funding Cycle planning has begun. A pre-application conference will be scheduled in May for any
prospective agencies interested in applying for funding. Applications will be accepted in June.
8. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS:
1) Vice Chair Wilson reminded everyone of the Volunteer Luncheon scheduled for Wednesday,
March 26, 2020. Joe Perez encouraged board members to RSVP for the event.
2) Joe Perez reported that the City Council approved the Senior Safety Net Program . This program
will assist seniors in need of emergency and rental assistance through a case managed process.
Joe noted that the program is expected to begin on Monday, March 2 at the Downtown Anaheim
Community Center.
ADJOURNMENT: Vice Chair Wilson reported the next meeting will take place on Thursday, March 12,
2020 at 5:30 p.m. and adjourned the meeting at 6:17 p.m.
