1.CALL TO ORDER: Chair Hamida called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m.
2.PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chair Hamida.
3.UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4.SCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
5.APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Hamida presented the August 20, 2020 minutes to the Commissioners for
changes or corrections. Chair Hamida made a motion to approve the August 20, 2020 minutes, seconded by
Commissioner Camargo. There were four votes in favor to approve the minutes; Chair Hamida accepted the minutes.
6.NEW BUSINESS:
a)Selection of Chair: Commissioner Camargo nominated Chair Hamida to remain as Chair; there were 4 votes in
favor. Chair Hamida will remain as Chair.
a)Selection of Vice Chair: Chair Hamida nominated Commissioner Camargo to be Vice Chair; there were 4 votes in
favor. Commissioner Camargo will be Vice Chair.
7.SUB-COMMITTEES:
a)Center Gallery: Holly Unruh reported virtual exhibits continue to be held online. Information can be found on the
Center Gallery Facebook page and the Anaheim Community Services website. Some exhibits that were scheduled
will defer their exhibit until the Center Gallery re-opens. Staff will be reaching out to local schools requesting youth to
share art virtually.
b)Public Art Program: Holly Unruh reported a consultant was selected to work on the Public Art Plan. Chair Hamida
asked if the Commission could participate in the Public Art Plan process. Holly Unruh stated the Public Art Program
sub-committee will be involved.
c)Poet Laureate: Holly Unruh stated the Poet Laureate selection has been delayed. Staff is updating the ordinance to
cast a wider net during the selection process.
d)Heritage: Jane Newell reported the Heritage Marker Program will be included in the Public Art Plan.

e) Culture:
1) Proposal for Recognition of Little Arabia: Chair Hamida stated the item will be tabled to the November
Commission meeting.
8. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Jane Newell reported the Central Library will be re-opening on October 26th with restrictions.
Commissioner Camargo stated he currently has art pieces exhibited at the MUZEO off Anaheim Boulevard. Jane Newell
stated information is posted on the history walk at the MUZEO.
Chair Hamida reported the first Indigenous Peoples Day was celebrated on October 12th.
Holly Unruh reported the following:
Anaheim Fall Festival information is available on the website: www.anaheimfallfestival.org. The parade will be
held on October 24th via Drive-Thru.
St. Jude Neighborhood Medical Center groundbreaking was held on September 28th.
Maxwell Dog Park groundbreaking will be held in early November.
Chair Hamida reminded the Commission of the remaining meetings for the commission for the 2020 year.
9. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Hamida adjourned the meeting at 7:03 p.m.
