1. CALL TO ORDER: Vice Chair Camargo called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Sanchez.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION:
a) Anaheim Ballet: Larry Rosenberg, Executive Director of the Anaheim Ballet, presented a brief history of the Anaheim
Ballet. Larry presented information on the programs offered at the Anaheim Ballet and a member performed ballet
for the Commission.
b) Public Art Plan: Amanda Golden, Managing Principal of Designing Local, introduced herself and presented an
overview of the Anaheim Public Art Plan that included what the Public Art Master Plan is, the planning process, why
the plan is being developed, website information (www.anaheimpublicart.org), and the upcoming district workshop
information.
5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Vice Chair Camargo presented the February 18, 2021 minutes to the Commissioners
for changes or corrections. Commission Arellano made a motion to approve the February 18, 2021 minutes, seconded by
Commission Uyematsu. There were five votes in favor to approve the minutes; Vice Chair Camargo accepted the
minutes.
6. NEW BUSINESS
a) Selection of Chair: Commissioner Sanchez nominated Vice Chair Camargo for Chair. There were five votes in favor;
Vice Chair Camargo will now be Chair of the Commission.
7. SUB-COMMITTEES:
a) Center Gallery: Holly Unruh reported the Center Gallery is currently exhibiting art shows online. Youth resident
artists are currently being showcased on the Center Gallery Facebook page. Artists who have submitted applications
and wish to showcase their work in person will remain in the queue until the Center Gallery is re-opened to the public.
b) Public Art Program: Holly Unruh encouraged the Commission to be involved with the Public Art Plan process and
requested that the Commission attend the upcoming district workshops.
c) Poet Laureate: Vice Chair Camargo reported the selection of the new Poet Laureate has been put on hold until
facilities re-open for the Poet Laureate to attend public events and while city staff updates the selection process.
Holly Unruh reported staff is currently working on amending the ordinance and will move forward when completed.

d) Heritage: Jane Newell encouraged the Commission to join the sub-committee. Commissioners Arellano and Maahs
volunteered to be on the sub-committee.
e) Culture: Holly Unruh encouraged Commissioners to join the sub-committee. Commissioner Sanchez volunteered to
be on the sub-committee.
8. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS:
Commissioner Maahs shared information that the Anaheim Historical Society will be hosting their first virtual event of
2021 - the History of the Anaheim Police Department celebrating 150 years. Detailed information will be emailed to the
Commission.
Holly Unruh reported this year’s Volunteer Recognition Event, “Power of Community,” will be held virtually on March 31st
at 7pm. Invitations will be mailed to the Commission and reminders will be sent via email.
Jane Newell reported the virtual tours of the Mother Colony and Woelke-Stoffel House are opening to the public. Also, a
drive-through seed kit giveaway will take place at Founders Parks on April 3rd – the first 200 attendees will have a choice
to receive seeds for Anaheim chili pepper, zucchini, green beans or beefsteak tomato and the “Anaheim by the River”
book.
Chair Camargo reported he will be participating in a virtual lecture at the Armory Center for the Arts titled “Active Voice”
on March 25th at 6pm via Zoom.
Eleanor Granflor reported the City Clerk and City Attorney’s office will host a virtual Brown Act/Ethics Training on March
31st at 5:30pm. New Commissioners must attend and current Commissioners can also attend for a refresher training.
Holly Unruh reported the summer VolunTEEN program orientation will begin soon and encouraged anyone to register if
they are interested.
Chair Camargo reported weekly pop-up grocery distributions are being held in the Ponderosa Park area on Saturday
mornings, as well as grocery home deliveries.
9. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Camargo adjourned the meeting at 7:50 p.m.
NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. via Teleconference.
