1. CALL TO ORDER: Chair Camargo called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Maahs.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: Brian Belski, District Visual & Performing Arts Director for Anaheim
Union High School District, introduced himself and stated he would like to create a connection between the students and
the city in regards to public art, musical performances, and other experiences provided in Anaheim.
Richard Romero, local artist, introduced himself and stated he would like to learn more about public art through the
Commission.
4. SCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Camargo presented the August 19, 2021 minutes to the Commissioners for
changes or corrections. Commissioner Rafiei made a motion to approve the August 19, 2021 minutes, seconded by
Commissioner Arellano. There were six votes in favor to approve the minutes; Chair Camargo accepted the minutes.
6. SUB-COMMITTEES:
a) Center Gallery: Holly Unruh reported the Center Gallery will host their first in-person Opening on November 17th at
the Downtown Anaheim Community Center Patio. The Opening will exhibit “Simple Pleasures” by artist Vickie
Green.
b) Public Art Program: Holly Unruh reported the data collected from the Public Art Survey will be finalized by the end of
October. The goal is for the Public Art Program recommendation to go to City Council for approval in December.
c) Poet Laureate: Chair Camargo reported the Poet Laureate Ordinance has been revised. Holly Unruh reported the
application period will be open for two months. The sub-committee will then review the applications and complete the
selection process. The goal is for the Poet Laureate recommendation to go to City Council in January or February.
d) Heritage: Jane Newell reported a sub-committee meeting will be scheduled to discuss restoration work for the
Carnegie Library building windows that will be funded through the Community Development Block Grant Program.
e) Culture: Commissioner Sanchez reported that he has reached out to the Council Member Diaz for additional funding
for marketing of city events and was told research on additional funding will be completed by the city.
7. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS:
Holly Unruh reported the Fall Festival will take place on October 30th. A scavenger hunt will take place in Downtown
Anaheim and further information can be found on the Fall Festival website.

Holly Unruh reported the Southern California Philharmonic group will host a holiday show at Pearson Park Amphitheatre
on December 11th
Commissioner Maahs reported a program about the history of Anaheim Halloween Festivities will be held at the Central
Library on October 27th.
Jane Newell reported the next Open House events at Founders’ Park will be held on Saturdays, November 6th, December
4th and 11th. The historic houses will be decorated by staff and volunteers on Saturday, November 20th from 9:00am to
1:00pm, and Commissioners are invited to join the fun.
8. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Camargo adjourned the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 6:30 p.m.
