1. CALL TO ORDER: Chair Camargo called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Maahs.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Camargo presented the October 21, 2021 minutes to the Commissioners for
changes or corrections. Vice Chair Uyematsu made a motion to approve the October 21, 2021 minutes, seconded by
Commissioner Sanchez. There were five votes in favor to approve the minutes; Chair Camargo accepted the minutes.
6. SUB-COMMITTEES:
a) Center Gallery: Commissioner Arellano reported the first in-person Opening Reception for the Center Gallery was
held on Wednesday, November 17th with approximately 30 attendees. Commissioners Arellano, Maahs and
Sanchez attended the event.
b) Public Art Program: Holly Unruh reported the data collected from the Public Art Survey is close to being finalized and
the goal is for the Public Art Program recommendation to go to City Council for approval in January 2022.
c) Poet Laureate: Holly Unruh reported the application period is currently open and will close on December 10th. The
sub-committee will then review the applications and begin the selection process.
d) Heritage: Jane Newell reported staff is waiting on documentation for the environmental review for the Carnegie
Library restoration project. A consultant, Thirtieth Street Architects, will begin on the bid proposal paperwork.
e) Culture: Commissioner Sanchez reported that he has been in contact with neighboring cities regarding event
marketing and will provide further information to share at the next Commission meeting. Chair Camargo appointed
Commissioner Maahs to the Culture Sub-Committee.
7. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS:
Holly Unruh provided information for the holiday show provided by the Southern California Philharmonic group at Pearson
Park Amphitheatre on December 11th, the Nutcracker Tree Lighting event that will be held in Downtown Anaheim on
December 4th, and the Adopt-a-Family program that is open to anyone who would like to sponsor a family.
Commissioner Maahs the creator of Spongebob Squarepants grew up in Anaheim and attended Savanna High School. A
bench was dedicated in his memory at Savanna High School.

Jane Newell reported the historic houses will be decorated by staff and volunteers on Saturday, November 20th from 9:00
a.m.-1:00 p.m., and Commissioners are invited to join the fun. The next Open House events at Founders’ Park will be
held on Saturdays, December 4th and 11th.
8. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Camargo adjourned the meeting at 6:55 p.m.
