C.MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT/CERTIFICATE BY BOARD MEMBERS: The
Board recognized Mayor Pro Tem Stephen Faessel and his wife Susan Faessel. “Steve and Susan
Faessel are the dynamic duo and have given much of their time, treasure, and talent to our
Anaheim Public Libraries. Mayor Pro Tem Faessel and his wife have been very generous
rounding up donations from toys to school supplies to distribute to the Bookmobile stops in
District 5 on several occasions. He has participated in all our Bookmobile celebrations in District
5. They both have been long time strong supporters of our libraries. Steve has long been a
volunteer researcher for APL and is the unofficial historian for our Anaheim Public Utilities
Department. He has written a series of Anaheim history books and donated many over the years
to our school-aged children. In 2002, Susan was appointed to the Library Board and served as
chairperson for six of her seven years she served. During her terms, she was involved in the
planning and completion of the remodeling of the Central Library, opening East Anaheim
Branch, and reconstruction of both Haskett and Euclid Branches. She also served as President of
the State of California Association of Library Trustees and Commissioners. For these and many
other reasons they have earned our recognition and appreciation on behalf of the Anaheim Public
Library.
The Board also recognized Librarian Mary Nuttelman upon her retirement after 38 years of
dedicated service and Firefighter/Paramedic Francisco Mora for participating in a series of virtual
programs promoting Anaheim Public Library’s collections and services.
