CALL TO ORDER – The agenda having been posted on February 4, 2021, the regular meeting of the
Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Laviguer at 4:02 p.m.
PRESENT:Rose Chen, Shelby Hogan, David Laviguer, Linda Newby, Stan Oftelie
STAFF:Audrey Lujan, City Librarian; Jennifer Foxx, PT Management Assistant;
Nissa Perez-Montoya, Principal Librarian
I.INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS:
A.FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: The Friends of Anaheim Public
Library held their meeting on January 25, 2021. Donations are now being accepted; however,
they must first go through the quarantine process. Each donation is quarantined for six days.
The Friends are proud to report that they made $401.00 from the Book Nook, even with the
pandemic. Special edition library cards are still available for a donation of $1.00 or more,
proceeds from these cards go to the Friends.
B.FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: No report.
C.ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: The Foundation’s online event with
award winning mystery author Catriona McPherson had 30 attendees and made over $700.00.
Being Scottish she delighted in telling the audience that she was so happy to spend Burns' Night
with them, which is a Scottish celebration where they celebrate Robert Burns by reading poetry
and eating haggis. She usually has a large celebration but this year because of COVID-19 no
such celebration was planned. They are working hard planning their Mystery Authors Luncheon
scheduled for Sunday, October 24, 2021.

E.WRITTEN COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: None.
II.APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 11, 2021 MEETING: The minutes were approved
as presented.
III.UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None.
IV.NEW BUSINESS:
A.CENTRAL GREEN SPACE: Nissa Perez-Montoya presented information on the new Central
Green Space. The space will be named the Friends Green Space in recognition for their sizable
donation to the space and for their many donations over the past 60 years. The space will be used
for outdoor programming. Construction is in the final stages which includes the addition of a
shade structure. ITEM # 06

V.INFORMATION
A.CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:
Staff continues to apply for new and exciting grants.
B.BUDGET: Staff is working on budget projections for the end of FY 2020/21. Next fiscal year’s
budget is in a holding pattern until March.
VI.ACTIVITY REPORTS
A.STATISTICS: The statistical format is being revised and should be available for the March
Board Meeting. Staff members who compile statistics will attend to answer the Library Board’s
questions regarding the virtual statistics.
B.ACTIVITY REPORTS: None.
C.MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT/CERTIFICATE BY BOARD MEMBERS: The
Board recognized the Samueli Foundation for funding a video production hub at Central Library
that greatly improves the quality of the Library’s online videos/stortyimes, etc.
VII.BOARD ITEMS
MEMBER SHELBY HOGAN: None.
MEMBER ROSE CHEN: Wished everyone a Happy Chinese New Year and looks forward to
attending the meetings in person.
MEMBER LINDA NEWBY: Attended the APL Foundation online author event. It was well done
and very enjoyable. The AARP Magazine has book recommendations and Linda was pleased to see
that the Library had about seven of the ten recommended books.
VICE CHAIR STAN OFTELIE: None.
CHAIR LAVIGUER: None.

A.NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be March 8, 2021, at the Central Library.
B.ADJOURNMENT: Chair Laviguer adjourned the meeting at 5:03 p.m.
