CALL TO ORDER – The agenda having been posted on January 6, 2022, the regular meeting of the
Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Laviguer at 4:03 p.m.
PRESENT:Rose Chen, Michelle Dang, David Laviguer, Linda Newby

I.INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS:
A.FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: The Friends made $222.45 at
their December book sale.
B.FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: The Friends of Canyon Hills Anaheim
Library (FOCAL) will host its January Outdoor Flash Sale on the front patio of Canyon Hills
Library on Thursday January 20, 2022, from noon until 4:00 p.m. and Friday January 21, 2022
from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The Flash Sales provide a successful selling outlet for FOCAL and
fantastic prices for buyers featuring a wide variety of books, puzzles, and other items
C.ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: The Foundation has planned a
Zoom program with award winning author Allison Brennan on January 10, 2022. Admission is
$5.00. Tickets are available through Eventbrite. The 25th annual Mystery Author’s Luncheon is
scheduled for April 24, 2022. Tickets will be available February 1, 2022 through Eventbrite and
will be $60 per person or $550 per table.

E.WRITTEN COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: None.
II.APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 12, 2021 MEETING: The minutes were
approved as presented.
III.UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None.
IV.NEW BUSINESS:
A.VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE: Jane Newell presented on the Victorian Christmas
Open House held at Founders’ Park. Tours were offered for on three separate Saturdays with
Victorian Christmas decorations on display and presentations on holiday traditions and games

from the Victorian era. Attendance was consistent with 2019 pre-pandemic levels with 225 in
attendance.
V.INFORMATION
A.CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:
Thomas reported that the Library is still waiting on start dates for the Central Green Space
and Euclid Programming Space.
Children’s Library Programs at all locations are on winter break and will resume after
January 28th.
B.BUDGET: None.
VI.ACTIVITY REPORTS
A.STATISTICS: None.
B.ACTIVITY REPORTS: None.
C.MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT/CERTIFICATE BY BOARD MEMBERS: Linda
recognized Library staff who contribute to the Library Board Packets and Jennifer Foxx for
compiling and distributing the Library Board Packets in such an organized fashion. Michelle
recognized Emiliano Saxe for his 3D Printing Programs and for being always patient and helpful.
VII.BOARD ITEMS
MEMBER ROSE CHEN: Began working for the Anaheim School District and they are holding an
e-waste recycle day.
MEMBER MICHELLE DANG: None.
VICE CHAIR LINDA NEWBY: Recognized Thomas Edelblute for working with the City to manage
the parking lot issues with the Covid Testing site.
CHAIR LAVIGUER: Shared that a program on the Anaheim Cemetery will be held at Central
Library on January 19, 2022. David reminded the Board to buy tickets for the Anaheim Public
Library Foundation’s Mystery Authors Luncheon.
VIII.MISCELLANEOUS
A.NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be February 14, 2022, at the Central Library.
B.ADJOURNMENT: Chair Laviguer adjourned the meeting at 4:42 p.m.
