1. CALL TO ORDER: Chair Cudd called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice Chair Rupp led the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None.
5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Cudd presented the July 22, 2020, Minutes to the Commissioners for changes or
corrections. Commissioner Elwell made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Vice Chair Rupp. The motion was
approved with 5 votes in favor; Chair Cudd accepted the minutes.
6. REPORTS
a) Recreation, Human and Neighborhood Services Activity Report – June/July: Sjany Larson-Cash presented the
report and highlighted the part-time-staff assistance to Public Utilities for re-painting fire hydrants, Camp Venture day
camps at Peralta Park and Center Greens in Downtown Anaheim, Center Gallery virtual exhibits, Oak Canyon Nature
Center day camps, swim lessons, VolunTEEN program, Meals on Wheels program, Senior Welfare Program, various
Food/Frozen Meal Distributions, various Food Pantry Programs, Kids Café Meal Program, OC United Way Pandemic
Relief Fund, Project S.A.Y. Program, and Essential Worker Childcare provided by the YMCA. Questions were
answered regarding the Neighborhood Clean-up Program, and food distribution for the general public at the
Downtown Anaheim Community Center.
b) Park Ranger Report – July: Sjany Larson-Cash presented the report and highlighted the number of patrols, patrons,
public contacts, curfew and alcohol related contacts made by Park Rangers. This month’s report showed a decrease
in patrols, patrons, public contacts, and curfew contacts, with a slight increase in alcohol contacts, and zero coyote
sightings. The Park Rangers have continued to assist with patrolling the parks with amenity closures. Questions
were answered regarding alcohol contacts and mask enforcement.
c) Parks Capital Project Progress Report: Pamela Galera presented the report and highlighted the following projects:
Aloe Greens, Center Greens, Maxwell Dog Park, and St. Jude Medical Clinic at Ponderosa Park.
7. PREVIOUS BUSINESS
a) FY 2020/21 Proposed Budget Update: Larry Pasco reported the city awaits information on federal funding in order to
take action on department reductions. The new City Manager, James Vanderpool, will begin on September 8th.
Questions were answered regarding federal funding for local government.
8. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Sjany Larson-Cash reported the next Activity Guide will continue to be offered in a digital
format that will be placed online and can be updated in real time as needed. The Activity Guide can be found on the City
of Anaheim, Community Services Department website.
