RESOLUTION NO. 66R 324
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM COMMENDING LEO FREEDMAN
FOR HIS CIVIC EFFORTS IN BEHALF OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, Leo Freedman brought the first California
State office to the City of Anaheim in establishing head-
quarters for the California Highway Patrol; and
WHEREAS, he was the driving force behind efforts to
bring the first National hotel chain to the City of Anaheim,
in opening the Charter House Hotel whose parent company is
the Hotel Corporation of America; and
WHEREAS, he built and developed Melodyland Theatre,
the first theatre in the round in Orange County and through
its presence and operation he has contributed to the substan-
tial cultural growth in the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, Leo Freedman was instrumental inlx inging
the twelve -story Crest Hotel to Anaheim to make a substantial
addition to the entertainment and convention potential of the
Disneyland complex; and
WHEREAS, through his efforts and contributions to
the project, the City of Anaheim is in a position to accept
the dedication of Freedman Way which will afford a direct
highway link between the Santa Ana Freeway and the main
entrance to Disneyland.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that it commend and it does hereby
commend Leo Freedman for his outstanding and untiring efforts
in the development of the cultural and entertainment facilities
of the City of Anaheim, it being particularly appropriate
that the City express its appreciation to him upon the occasion
of the dedication of Freedman Way.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this reso-
lution be appropriately illuminated in a manner suitable for
framing and presented to Leo Freedman.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 3rd day of May, 1966.
