Anaheim Blvd. 7th floor Anaheim, CA 92805 RE: Support for DisneylandForward Dear Councilman Faessel, The Los Angeles and Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council is writing to express our strong support for DisneylandForward and asks for the council to approve the project. Disneyland is the economic engine that drives Anaheim. Without Disneyland, Anaheim would not be the economic juggernaut that it is today. Beyond just the park, Disneyland makes it possible for hotels, small businesses, and entrepreneurs to thrive and prosper. The City of Anaheim and its residents reap the rewards of all this economic activity. So too does the City’s middle class. Disneyland employs over 33,000 workers and over 28,000 enjoy union protections and a union paycheck. Disneyland’s 0.8 square miles has the highest union density in the world, and the Building Trades have known almost known no better partner than Disney. Thousands of Building Trades men and women work to maintain the park on a daily basis, and thousands more have gone to work building the rides and attractions that millions enjoy every year. With a first every Project Labor Agreement on the first phase of the project, Disneyland is committed to local hiring for the construction of a massive parking structure and safe and convenient walking bridges. The first 10 years after the parking structure will net over 10,000 construction jobs paying middle-class wages and benefits, and after 40 years of redevelopment, a secure retirement. DisneylandForward simply means more. More jobs. More revenue. More opportunity for everyone. The Los Angeles and Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council supports the DisneylandForward and asks for the council for unanimous approval. In Solidarity, Ernesto Medrano Andrew Gonzales Executive Secretary Council Representative EM/AG: ag/OPEIU#537/afl-cio
