Subject:\[EXTERNAL\] Disneyland Expansion Question - I urge Anaheim City Council to follow
Reccommendations of Music Union Local 7

Dear Council Members,
As a Musician at Disneyland, I urge that the
approval of the expansion of Disneyland
be contingent on fair wage and fair contract
provisions outlined and advocated by Music Union
Local 7 in Anaheim.
We need these stipulations because the
Management of the Walt Disney Company
otherwise will have boundless opportunity to pay
and treat their musicians unfairly.
As an example, the individual who wrote the
theme song : When You Wish Upon A Star
1
Leigh Harline, was not paid any royalties, and
suffered for many years because he composed
that song while under a salary arrangement.
I know this because the Harline family are
personal friends of mine.
Only many years later was proper remuneration
given to Leigh Harline for the theme song written
for Pinochio, which was made the theme song for
the entire Disney Company.
Please let us learn from the past and vote for the
expansion, contingent on fair treatment for
the musicians, artists and the creative people who
work for this company..
Thank you,
Evan Sachs
