CALL TO ORDER – The agenda having been posted on January 5, 2023, the regular meeting of the
Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Laviguer at 4:33 p.m.
PRESENT:Rose Chen, Michelle Dang, David Laviguer, Linda Newby
ABSENT:Shelby Hogan
STAFF:Audrey Lujan – City Librarian, Alessandra Gonzalez - Communications Specialist II,
Jennifer Foxx – PT Management Assistant
I.INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS:
A.FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: The Friends have pledged over
$16,000 in funding for 2023.
B.FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: The Friends of Canyon Hills Library
(FOCAL) sponsored the Celebration of Life for Catherine St. Clair.
C.ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: Tickets for the APL Foundation’s
2023Mystery Author’s Luncheon will be on sale February 1, 2023. Tickets will be $75 per
person or $700 for a table of 10. Advertisements are being accepted for the program.
D.COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: None.
II.APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 12, 2022 MEETING: The minutes were
approved as presented.
III.UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None.
IV.NEW BUSINESS:
A.COMMUNICATIONS UPDATE: Alessandra Gonzalez presented a video and slides
th
highlighting upcoming events for 2023. The Central Library will celebrate its 60 Anniversary
in 2023. The Library will be asking the community and former staff to share photos and
memories of Central Library as well as host various celebrations. The Library will have a
special edition Library Card featuring “Baby Yoda” that will be available to patrons for a small
donation to the Friends of the Anaheim Public. This card will be launched at WonderCon in
March.
B.LIBRARY BOARD AD IN ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION MYSTERY
AUTHORS LUNCHEON PROGRAM: The Library Board will sponsor the inside cover ad in
the Mystery Authors Luncheon Program.

V.INFORMATION
A.CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:
The Library has been hiring a lot of part-time staff to fill the vacancies that we have had over
the past two years. There are still full-time vacancies that have applicants going through the
hiring process.
City Council has requested Library Staff provide budget proposals for Sunday hours;
additional full-time staff will need to be included in these proposals.
B.BUDGET: Staff is working on mid-year projections.

C.MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT/CERTIFICATE BY BOARD MEMBERS: None.
VII.BOARD ITEMS
MEMBER ROSE CHEN: Requested information on computer classes for seniors.
MEMBER MICHELLE DANG: Asked if APL offers training for Photoshop or Procreate.
VICE CHAIR LINDA NEWBY: Met with a representative from OCCORD and was delighted to
find that the Library has an established relationship with the organization.
CHAIR LAVIGUER: None.
VIII.MISCELLANEOUS
A.NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be February 13, 2023, at the Haskett Library.
B.ADJOURNMENT: Chair Laviguer adjourned the meeting at 5:23 p.m.
