CALL TO ORDER – The agenda having been posted on February 9, 2023, the regular meeting of the
Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Laviguer at 4:35 p.m.
PRESENT:Rose Chen, Michelle Dang, David Laviguer, Linda Newby
ABSENT:Shelby Hogan
STAFF:Audrey Lujan – City Librarian, Guadalupe Gomez - Library Services Manager,
Jennifer Foxx – PT Management Assistant
I.INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS:
A.FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: The Friends are now holding
monthly sales outside. They are sad to announce that long-time member and active volunteer
Peter Fiorini passed away.
B.FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: The next Flash Sale is February 28 – March
1, 2023. The Friends of Canyon Hills Library (FOCAL) welcomed April Ray, Supervising
Librarian for Canyon Hills. April has a lot of experience and has been an asset in every
department, including assisting with the creation of a new logo for FOCAL.
C.ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: Tickets for the APL Foundation’s
2023Mystery Author’s Luncheon are on sale through Eventbrite. More information is available
at www.anaheimlibraryfoundation.com
D.COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: The Red Cross sent a letter thanking the Library for
partnering with them to host a blood drive.
II.APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 9, 2023 MEETING: The minutes were approved
as presented.
III.UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None.
IV.NEW BUSINESS:
A.HASKETT LED UPDATE: The Haskett Library was granted a loan from Public Utilities to
replace the old lighting with cost effective LED lighting.

V.INFORMATION
A.CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:
The Library is continuing to run recruitments for many part-time positions. The turnover rate
for part-time positions at APL is 34%.
The Samueli Foundation provided generous funding to renovate the Euclid Children’s area.
The Library has applied for a grant to provide classes on healthy eating.
B.BUDGET: Budget preparation has begun. The core budget team is comprised of Keely Hall,
Thomas Edelblute, and Joe Purtell.
VI.ACTIVITY REPORTS
A.STATISTICS: None.
B.ACTIVITY REPORTS: None.
C.MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT/CERTIFICATE BY BOARD MEMBERS: The
Board recognized Michael Sistrunck for his conducting computer classes and assisting a Board
Member with a computer class. They also recognized the Anaheim Library for always being
responsive, noting that it comes from the top and the culture of Anaheim Public Library.
VII.BOARD ITEMS
MEMBER MICHELLE DANG: Appreciates what the Library does for the community and long-
term Library staff. Michelle also expressed her appreciation for the Library Board Members and
volunteers.
MEMBER ROSE CHEN: Requested information on volunteer opportunities. Rose thanked Audrey
for being very responsive to all of the questions and requests from the Library Board.
VICE CHAIR LINDA NEWBY: None.
CHAIR LAVIGUER: Thanked everyone for coming.

A.NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be March 13, 2023, at the Central Library.
