A RESOLliTION 0," THE CITY COUNCIL Oil THE CITY
OF ANAHEIIJ1, CALIFOliNIA, PERTAINING TO THE
POSITION OF THE CITY OF ANA~EIM WITH RESPECT
TO DOCKET NO. 5645 ET AL., PACIFIC-SOUTHWEST
LOCAL SERVICE CASE, 3EFORE THE CIVIL AERO-
NAUTICS BOARD.

W~~f~S, the City of Anaheim, California, is a muni-
corporation situated in Orange County approximately 14
east of the Long Beach Municipal Airport; and
WPiliREAS, the population of Anaheim has increased
from 14,000 in 1952 to over 78,000 in 1958; and
WfllililiAS, Anaheim, like so many cities in southern
California has recently experienced tremendous growth in
industrial and residential construction, and the industrial
and economic outlook for the future is most promising; and
wfiEEEAS, there aI'e located in Anaheim many large
industrial and y'esearch organizations, many of whom are
engaged in the manufacture of aircraft assemblies, jet engine
components, and othey' products vi tal to the national defense;
and
WPiliF:EAS, there are also located in the City of Ana-
heim numerous industries engaged in the production and manufac-
ture of chemicals, aircraft parts, electrical parts and other
products; and
WHEREAS, the only other major airports serving the
Anaheim vicinity are the International Airport in Inglewood
and the Lockheed Terminal at Burbank, both of which are
located a far greater distance from Anaheim and traffic con-
ditions make them even more inconvenient and time-consuming
to reach than even their relative distance from Anaheim would
indicate; and
WHEREAS, the Long Beach Municipal Airport by reason
of its much shorter distance and less congested traffic is
needed for use as a major airport by the residents and business
men of this city and the neiglilioring areas.

NOW, 'rHERKF'OHE, BE IT EESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that the rapid industrial, residential,
and business growth in the City of Anaheim and surrounding
areas has created a community of interest between Anaheim and
other cities in California and Nevada, and is a substantial
market for air transportation. 'Phat the needs and convenience
of the travelling public require that this area be provided with
more adequate air transportation. That the Long Beach Municipal
Airport, as the closest and most convenient major airport to the
City of Anaheim and its residents, should be certificated as a
terminal or intermediate point for the new and improved scheduled
airline service which should result from the proceedings in the
Pacific-Southwest Local ~ervice Case, Docket 5645 et al., before
the Civil Aeronautics Board.

BE IT FURTBER RESOLVED that the adoption by the
City Council of' this resolution is not to be construed as
favoring or endorsing the application of' any specif'ic air-
line in this proceedin@;. The interest of the City of Ana-
heim is to assist the Civil Aeronautics Board in its deter-
mination of the need for new and improved scheduled airline
service between the Long Beach Municipal Airport and certain
other cities in California and Nevada.
