Dear Mr. Thomas Gorham,
I strongly object to further plans for North 1204 Brookhurst Ave, including a parcel
subdivision. The property owner's persistent neglect has gravely affected the lives of my
street's residents, including my family and neighbors. It is imperative that the city
refrain from approving any more plans until the property owner adequately secures the
property and the city imposes substantial fines for non-compliance. The continuation of
these plans will only exacerbate our already dire circumstances.
Criminal activity continues at the abandoned property daily. I have notified the city code
enforcement and police and have received no results. For example, the front door has
been open for almost a year. There are no boards on the windows. You can visibly see
people bringing and storing things like bikes and shopping carts by entering the
premises through the unlocked garage in the alley. The squatters also leave human feces
in the alley. I also see possible prostitution occurring in the alley.
Here are some examples the city can reference as an example of what I am describing. I
have also provided some pictures as an example. One photo shows a man entering the
property through the unlocked garage door (5/31). The other photo shows the front door
propped open, and the owner has not securely boarded the windows.
Below are some of the recent incidents I have reported.
1
Code enforcement case COD2024-01011 - A request to inspect the property for
proper security
Anaheim Request # 7704194 \[3336626463666230\] - A request to clean human
feces in the alley (never done)
Anaheim Request # 7670701 \[6138643562363637\] - A request to clean up human
feces in the alley (never done)
Anaheim 911 call incident #24-34505 - A man from the alley trespassed on my
property and began yelling at my family
