A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM DECLARING THE CONDITION OF THE
)-MILLION GALLON WATER STORAGE RESERVOIR ALONG
LA PAUlA AVENUE BEt\fIEEN CITRON AND WEST STREETS
TO BE A GREAT PUBLIC CALAMITY; DECLARING THE
NECESSITY TO DO EMERGENCY WCRK TO PREPARE FOR
LOCAL DEFENSE; AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF
THE NECESSARY FUNDS; AND AUTHORIZING THE
NECESSARY REPAIR WORK TO BE DONE BY DAY LABOB.
WHEREAS, the condition of the )-million gallon
water storage reservoir along La Palma Avenue between Citron
and West Streets, in the City of Anaheim, is such that said
reservoir cannot be used for the storage of water in its
present state; and
WHEREAS, the cost of repairing said reservoir has
been estimated by the City Engineer of the City of Anaheim
at approximately $9,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the demand for water in peak periods of
consumption has risen at a rapid rate, so that competent
estimates figure the water demand in peak periods will ex-
ceed the storage capacity of the 4-million gallon water
storage reservoir located near the southeast corner of La
Palma Avenue and West Street in the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the peak water use period will occur in
the latter part of June and the first part of July; and
WHEREAS, it is essential to the safe-guarding of
life, health and property within the City of Anaheim that
there be sufficient capacity for the storage of water, so
that adequate pressure can be maintained in fire hydrants
for the fighting of any fires which may occur in the City
of Anaheim.
NaN, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COONC IL
OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM that, after consideration of the con-
dition of the )-million reservoir above mentioned, located
along La Palma Avenue between Citron and West Streets, in
the City of Anaheim, and the water storage capacity without
the use of said reservoir; and after considering the esti-
mates of demand during peak use periods in the City of
Anaheim, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does here-
by declare that the condition of said )-mil1ion gallon water
storage reservoir located along La Palma Avenue between
Citron and West Streets constitutes a great public calamity,
and that it is necessary to do emergency work on said
reservoir for local defense.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council
does declare that public interest and necessity demand the
immediate expenditure of public money in an amount neces-
sary to make repairs to said )-million gallon reservoir
hereinabove mentioned, located along La Palma Avenue be-
tween Citron and West Streets, in order to safeguard life,
health and property of the citizens of the City of Anaheim,
and does authorize the expenditure of $9,000.00 for such
repairs.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the
Ci ty of Anahe im, in order to exped ite and faci Ii ta 18 the
repairs to said reservoir, does authorit8 the City Engineer
to make the necessary repairs thereto by day labor, .without
any necessity for advertising for formal or informal bids.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 11th day of June, 1957.
