A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIH AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE AND IN- STALLATION OF Ti'1O ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN DEEP WELL TURBINE TYPE PUMPS, IN WELLS NO. 14 AND NO. 15 IN THE CITY OF ANAHEIH, WORK ORDER NO. 1415. WHEREAS, the City Council does find and determine that Dublic convenience and necessity require the purchase and installation of two electrically driven, deep well, tur- bine type pumping units, including concrete bases, one to be installed in Well #14, located 365 feet South of the center line of West La Palma Street and 135 feet West of the center line of West Street, in the City of Anaheim, and one to be installed in Well #15, located on the West side of Placentia Avenue, 850 feet South of Vermont Street in the City of Ana- heim, complying with the following specifications: OPERATING COIIDITIONS: Well Depth Well Diameter Standinr. The column coupling shall be made from extra heavy seamless tubing. The Oil tube bearings shall be made of bronze with one bearing to each 5' length of tubing. Bearings to be t:b..reeded externally and fitted in internally threaded tubing with ends properly faced. The disch.s,rge head shall be made of cast iron or steel sole plate and shall be provided with lO" Std. Discharge Flange - Well #14, and 811 Std. Discharge Flange - Well #15, complete with bolts and gaskets. A Solenoid type oiler shall be provided and provisions made for locking oil reservoir filler cap. ,r- -. ~. The pump bowls shall be of close-grained cast iron, having a minimum tensile strength of 30,000 Dounds per square -1- ~ ~. inch, free from blow holes, sand holes, and all other faults; accurately maohined and fitted to olose dimen- si ons. The impeller shaft shall be of stainless steel of not less than 12% Chrome. No so-called rustless iron will be oonsidered. The impeller shaft shall be supported by water lubricated bronze bearings on both sides of each impeller. SCOPE: The equipment cove~ed shall include, without limiting the generality thereof, all mechanical, hydraul- ic, eleotrioal and miscellaneous equipment for two eleo- trioally driven, deep well turbine type pumping units, completely installed in Wells #14 and #15 in the City of Anaheim, California. Electric wiring, starting equipment and piping to pumps will be furnished and installed by others. in accordance with the design, plans, profiles, drawings and/or specifications preparec1. by the Superintendent of the Light, Power and Water Department of the City of Anaheim; and VfHEREAS, Food Hachinery & Chemical Corporation, Peerless Pump Division has offered to furnish said deep well turbine type pumping units complying \lTith said specifications and install the same within six (6) working days from and after notice of accept- ance of its offer, for the price of $ 13,395.00, payable as follows: Eighty-five (85) per cent of said amount to be paid upon delivery and completion of the installation of said pumps in i.Jells #14 and #15, in the City of Anaheim; and the remaining fifteen (15) per cent of said amount to be withheld for a period of thirty days from and after completion of the installation of said pumps and final acceptance of said work, and the filing of a notice of completion by the City of Anaheim. AND illiEREAS, the City Council finds that said price is the lowest obtainable for the purchase and installation of said pumps and that the offer of Food Machinery & Chemical Corporation, Peerless Pump Division should be accepted upon the conditions hereinafter set forth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the offer of Food Machinery & Ohemical Corporation, Peerless Pump Division to sell to the City of Anaheim and install in Water Wells Nos. 14 and 15 owned by the City, two electrically driven, deep well, turbine type pumping units, including concrete bases, complying with the specifica- tions hereinabove set forth, be, and the same is hereby, accepted upon the following conditions: - 1. That said pumps shaP comply in all respects with the specificat5_ons hereinabove set forth, and shaLe be insto.lled in said wells vdthin a Deriod of six (6) working days from and after receiDt of notice from the City of Anaheim of the acceptance of said offer. --..,...- 2. Tp~t said pumps s~~ll be installed in said wells ready for operation, exclusive of piping and wiring and starting equipment. -2- ...., ,,-.,. 3, That in the installation of said electrically driven, deep well, turbine type pumping units in said Water Wells Nos. 14 and 15, including concrete bases, it shall be expressly understood and agreed that Food Machinery & Chemical Corpora- tion, Peerless Pump Division is acting as an in- dependent contractor and not as an agent, servant or employee of the City of Anaheim. 4.
