AGENDA ACTION TAKEN
1. CALL TO ORDER: The Community Services Board meeting was called to order at 5:33 p.m. by
Chair Barnett.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Board Member Barrera led the Board in reciting the Pledge of
Allegiance.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None.
5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Barnett presented the March 14, 2024, meeting minutes to
the Board Members for changes and/or corrections. Board Member Banker-Jelensky made a motion
to approve the March 14, 2024, meeting minutes, seconded by Board Member Barrera; motion was
approved with five votes in favor. Chair Barnett accepted the minutes.
6. NEW BUSINESS:
a) Mid -Year Non -Profit Agency Report
1) Anaheim Family YMCA
Ann Trovada — Operations Director at the Anaheim Family YMCA gave a program
update on CDBG funding, updating two programs: Swim and Sports. The swim
program has grown from a summer -only program to a March -through -October
program, based on strategic funding and community interest. Year to date they
have served 103 families of their 200 goal. The overall sports and performing arts
programs have grown since the 2021 inaugural year. Initially, youth soccer served
100 children and now serves over 320. The sports program currently serves 219
children out of the goal of 250. Based on HUD funding guidelines of allocating
50%-70% rather than 100%, the program will surpass its goals.
b) Anaheim Community Foundation Presentation, Janis Heckel, Executive Director
• Janis Heckel provided a PowerPoint presentation regarding the Anaheim Needs
Assessment including history and current implementation plan. They hope to gather
data for both Youth and Families, as well as Active Older Adults to better support
program needs. ACF will compile data and present a comprehensive report to the
Community Services Board in October 2024.

8. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Board Member Douglas reported that he lives in the Disney Forward area
and has attended District 4 and District 2 meetings.
Joe Perez offered committee members assistance to facilitate introductions to City Department
personnel, should they need access to city resources. He also introduced Barbara Leggett as a new
staff member for the Community Services Department.
Joe Perez explained that the FY2024/2025 funding recommendation will be presented to the Housing
and Community Development Commission at their May 1st meeting. Chair Barnett will attend and
represent the Board at the meeting. Once approved, it will be assigned to a future City Council
agenda.
9. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Barnett reported that the next meeting is scheduled to take place on
Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., and adjourned the meeting at 6:23 p.m.
