Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, California BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT Linda Barnett, Chair Steven Kleine, Vice Chair Laura Banker-Jelensky Shandra Barrera Steven Douglas Usha Shah July 11, 2024 — 5:30 p.m. STAFF Julia Moreno, Community Services Supervisor Barbara Leggett, Senior Secretary STAFF ABSENT Joe Perez, Community Services Manager AGENDA ACTION TAKEN 1. CALL TO ORDER: The Community Services Board meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chair Barnett. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice Chair Kleine led the Board in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None. 4. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None 5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Barnett presented the May 9, 2024, meeting minutes to the Board Members for changes and/or corrections. Board Member Banker-Jelensky made a motion to approve the May 9, 2024, meeting minutes, seconded by Board Member Barrera; motion was approved with six votes in favor. Chair Barnett accepted the minutes. 6. NEW BUSINESS: a) Community Services Board Elections — Barbara Leggett opened the floor for nominations for the Chair and Vice -Chair positions. A nomination on behalf of Linda Barnett was made by Board Member Steven Kleine for Linda to be elected as Chair of the CSB. No other nominations received. Six votes in favor, none in opposition. Chair Barnett nominated Board Member Steven Kleine to be elected as Vice Chair of the CSB. No other nominations received. Six votes in favor, none in opposition. b) FY24/25 Funding Cycle — Julia Moreno reminded Board Members to schedule a visit with non-profit agency representatives at their convenience. 7. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Chair Barnett reported that the CSB's funding recommendations were approved at the June City Council meeting. Julia Moreno reminded the board about the Anaheim Youth Advisory council that meets the 2nd Monday each month. Julia Moreno gave an update on the Anaheim Community Foundation survey for Youth and Active Older Adults. The focus groups of young adults, adults, nonprofits, and Active Older Adults service providers have been finalized. Data and information is still being collected and analyzed and the hope to have a finalized report by September or October of this year. 8. ADJOURNMENT: Board member Banker-Jelensky moved to go dark in August. Chair Barnett objected due to the upcoming funding cycle and dates. Julia Moreno commented that Community Services Manager, Joe Perez, is currently scheduling presentations for the August meeting. Chair Barnett commented that Joe Perez would decide if the August meeting may be dark. Chair Barnett adjourned the meeting at 5:42 p.m. and reported the next meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 5:30 p.m.
