AGENDA ACTION TAKEN
1. CALL TO ORDER: Chair Cudd called the meeting to order at 6:06 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice Chair Rupp led the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: Chair Cudd introduced our new Commissioner, Wesley Padilla.
Commissioner Padilla provided a brief background about himself.
5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Cudd presented the July 27, 2022 minutes to the Commissioners for
changes or corrections. Vice Chair Rupp made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Commissioner
Balius. The motion was approved with 5 votes in favor and 1 abstention by Commissioner Padilla; Chair Cudd
accepted the minutes.
6. REPORTS:
a) Recreation, Neighborhood and Human Services Activity Report — June/July: Anaheim Sporn presented the
report and highlighted the S.T.A.R.S. program, Fun on Wheels program, facilities updates, Concerts in the
Canyon at Ronald Reagan Park, "Summer Nights Under the Stars" series at Pearson Park Amphitheatre,
Aquatics, "Wilderness Survival Camp" and weddings held at Oak Canyon Nature Center, VolunTEEN
program, Senior Citizen meals programs and activities provided at community centers, the Resident
Leadership Academy held at Ponderosa Park, Resource Fairs and Classes provided at community centers
and family resource centers, Project S.A.Y. basketball tournament played versus city staff, Project S.A.Y.
activities and volunteer opportunities, Anaheim Boxing Club, contract classes and Camp Venture, the July
4th Celebration held at Peralta Park, the Mobile Family Resource Center, and upcoming events.
Questions were answered regarding Concerts in the Park, scholarships offered by the Anaheim Community
Foundation for the Aquatics programs, and scholarship opportunities provided by the Anaheim Family
YMCA. Commissioner Balius commended Concerts to the Max and city volunteer events.

b) Park Ranger Report — July: Anaheim Sporn presented the report and provided a brief overview of the
report statistics. Anaheim reported there was an increase in contacts made by Park Rangers in July
compared to June and there were no coyote sightings.
c) Parks Capital Project Progress Report: Ana Straabe presented the report and highlighted the following
projects: KABOOM! playground at Center Greens Build Day, Nohl Ranch Trail, Oak Canyon Nature Center
Renovation, and the OC River Walk.
Questions were answered regarding a possible timeline for the OC River Walk community meetings and
the stakeholders involved with the project.
NEW BUSINESS:
a) Selection of Vice Chair: Nominations for Vice Chair were made: Chair Cudd nominated Vice Chair Rupp to
remain as Vice Chair and Commissioner Balius nominated Commissioner Cook. Vice Chair Rupp received
five votes in favor and one abstention were made by Commissioners Balius; Commissioner Cook received
two votes in favor and abstentions were made by Chair Cudd, Vice Chair Rupp and Commissioners Cook
and Padilla. Vice Chair Rupp will remain as Vice Chair.
s. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Anaheim Sporn reported the Summer Nights Series continues in September.
Sjany Larson -Cash reported the City Council approved the designation of a portion of the Brookhurst Street
Corridor as "Little Arabia" and for a study to analyze the district options to be completed.
JJ Jimenez reported items will be taken to City Council for approval: La Palma Park and Boysen Park.
