ORDINANCE NO. 4279
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM REPEALING
TITLE 14, CHAPTER 14.32, SECTION 14.32.430 OF
THE ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL CODE AND ENACTING A NEW
TITLE 14, CHAPTER 14.32, SECTION 14.32.430,
SUBSECTIONS .010 AND .020 IN ITS PLACE RELATING
TO HANDICAPPED PARKING.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOES ORDAIN AS
SECTION 1.
That Title 14, Chapter 14.32, Section 14.32.430 of the
Anaheim Municipal Code be, and the same is, hereby repealed.
SECTION 2.
That Title 14, Chapter 14.32, Section 14.32.430, Sub-
sections .010 and .020 of the Anaheim Municipal Code is hereby
added to read as follows:
"14.32.430 DESIGNATED PARKING RESERVED FOR HANDICAPPED PERSONS
.010 It is unlawful to park or leave standing any
vehicle in a parking space designated for the
exclusive use of physically handicapped persons,
unless said vehicle displays either of the
distinguishing license plates or placards
issued to disabled persons, pursuant to
Section 22511.5 of the Vehicle Code, or the
distinguishing license plate or placard issued
to disabled veterans as specified in Section
9105 of the Vehicle Code.
.020 The City Traffic Engineer is authorized to
determine and to designate such parking space
in publicly owned, leased, or controlled
parking facilities. The provisions of Subsection
14.32.430.010 shall apply to all off-street
parking facilities owned or operated by any
privately -owned or operated parking lot. Such
parking space shall be indicated by blue paint
on the curb and/or on the pavement, and shall
contain a painted message in white on a blue
background, and/or symbol on the pavement within
each parking space. In addition, such parking
space shall be indicated by standard approved
signs consisting of a profile view of a wheelchair
with occupant in white on a blue background posted
immediately adjacent to, or visible from, each
parking space."
SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY
The City Council of the City of Anaheim hereby declares
that should any section, paragraph, sentence or word of this
chapter of the Code, hereby adopted, be declared for any reason
to be invalid, it is the intent of the Council that it would have
passed all other portions of this chapter independent of the elimina-
tion herefrom of any such portion as may be declared invalid.
SECTION 4.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be printed once within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption in the Anaheim Bulletin, a
newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated
in said City, and thirty (30) days from and after its final
passage, it shall take effect and be in full force..
THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 3rd Aayof November, 1981.
