Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and are expecting the message. To the City Council, are you aware that no one can get new homeowners insurance in the Deer Canyon area? Policies are not being renewed and when a homeowner tries to get a replacement policy they are told NO. The only company that will write in the area is FAIR.  California FAIR Plan insurance is geared toward homes and businesses in areas at high risk of wildfires.  A FAIR Plan policy typically costs more than a traditional policy does.  FAIR Plan insurance offers less coverage than traditional property insurance. For example, these policies won’t cover theft or provide liability protection against lawsuits.  Californians can supplement a FAIR Plan policy with a difference in conditions (DIC) policy to obtain additional coverage. Why the California FAIR Plan Exists Amid the rise in risks stemming from wildfires and insurance rate hikes, Californians now have fewer options for fire insurance. That’s because more insurers have decided against offering new coverage or renewing current policies. Therefore, many Californians have been forced to rely on the FAIR Plan for basic fire coverage. From September 2019 to June 2024, the number of FAIR Plan policies for California homes soared by 164%, the plan’s data shows. 1 If the insurance companies, the fire department and the police department all feel that we are a BIG risk for a fire, with evacuation a BIG issue for the police department, why would you even consider allowing such a development to be built? Please, I am begging you all. Please do your homework and understand all the safety issues that are against this project. Please listen to the public outcry about this project. Thank you. 2
