As 28-year residents of district 6 in Anaheim, we are especially worried about the effects on Deer Canyon Nature Preserve. We enjoy walking in the preserve often, enjoying the birds, other wildlife and the diverse vegetation. As the signage indicates, it is an ecologically sensitive area. The addition of over 1000 residents at the entrance to the park will endanger this area. It seems the land was zoned as it is for a reason, and a developer’s ask for such a radical change in zoning should not be accepted. Our city needs a balance of housing and open spaces. Everyone is aware of the need for new housing but the need is for affordable housing, not luxury housing. This will do nothing to help with the lack of affordable housing in our state. Other obvious concerns include fire danger and the increased difficulty in evacuations and the already horrible traffic on our streets because of those bypassing the 91 freeway. Thank you for your consideration of our comments. Dave and Mary Heistand 1
