To the Anaheim City Council members:
I am writing this email to express my concern regarding the rezoning of the Deer
Canyon project.
I have lived in Anaheim Hills since 1989. I have 5 kids and 3 grandkids that also live
here in this community. I want to make sure that the city council members understand
how we have been impacted by the traffic situation here in the canyon. In my opinion
the EIR report is inaccurate.
On any given day, but specifically between the hours of 3-7pm the traffic on most
streets in Anaheim Hills, but specifically on Serrano Ave, Santa Ana Canyon Rd. and
Weir Canyon Rd. are so impacted that we can not even get out of our neighborhoods to
take our kids to practices or go to the grocery store. What should take 5-10 minutes can
take 45-60 minutes or more!
During the 2017 fires, the grid lock was so bad that cars were trapped for hours. That
was 7 years ago and now the traffic is 100 times worse! Now we deal with that type of
gridlock on a regular basis so if or when there is another fire here the result will be
deadly.
I urge you to consider the people that you represent. I am not sure what can be done to
ease the already extremely impacted traffic, but I am 100% certain that adding 500
more high density housing units with a potential for 1000 more cars is NOT what is best
for our community. I urge you to listen to the opinion of the fire chief, the police chief
and the residents of Anaheim Hills when making your decision.
Thank you,
Kim Cooper
