I am writing to urge you to vote no on the proposed Hills Preserve development. The Fire, Police and Planning Staff have all recommended that this development should not move forward. These are professionals in their fields and their professional judgement is what should be considered above all else. It is extremely concerning that the planning commission did not listen to their own staff's recommendations. As a resident, I am concerned about the increased traffic this development will bring during fire evacuations. During the last evacuation order, residents were in their cars for hours stuck in traffic trying to evacuate. I am deeply concerned what will happen with the addition of thousands of more residents. This land was not classified as medium residential or commercial and should not be changed because of a developers petition. I urge you to vote no on this development. The safety of our community depends on voting no to this development. I also want to share this LA times article from today titled, "California Wildfires are spreading faster, endangering more...". https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-10-26/california-wildfires-are-getting-faster-putting- more-people-in- danger#:~:text=The%20study%20gave%20several%20possible,ignitions%2C%E2%80%9D%20the%20st udy%20posited. Not being able to evacuate in a timely manner is a real threat to our community and I hope you listen to the voices of the community and vote no. Thank you, Jyoti Gaur 1
