I have witnessed a magnificant increase in the number of cars using La Palma and Santa Ana Canyjn as an extension of the 91 freeway every single day. The intersection of Imperial Highway/Santa Ana Canyon and Weir Canyon/Santa Ana Canyon is congested to the point that it is unsafe to travel. From 3:00pm- 6:00 pm, I feel a prisoner in my own home as the roads are at a stand still. To travel 3 miles to Costco or Target has become a 40 minute drive. The thought of adding a 500 apartment complex at Deer Canyon and another 500 units by Target would be criminal. This would add an additional 4000 cars to the are and make it impossible to evacuate in the event of a fire. The probability of fires in our area increases yearly and will continue to do so. I implore our City Counsel and Mayor to put the safety of residents first and prevent the tragedy that will be should the Deer Canyon/Salt project be approved. Thank you for considering the 10,000 residents affected by this project. Attached are a few pictures of our daily traffic issues and precious fire scares to our community.
