SALT project - Anaheim Hills - Safety Concerns !!! To Mayor Aitken and the members of the Anaheim City Council, I know you've likely been flooded with many emails and calls regarding the SALT project in Anaheim Hills, but I'd like to add my concerns when it comes to safety and fire evacuations. As a resident of AH, I experienced the 2017 Canyon Fire, something I never hope to experience again. As you already know, thousands were evacuated. I was at work in Ontario when I got the news that a mandatory evacuation was in place. I immediately packed up my work and called my neighbors to see if they could help gather my animals and evacuate with them as I was told there was no way I would be let in to get them or anything else, due to the traffic jams that were already forming in the area. I left work and made a plan to meet them in the Cinema City parking lot off of Imperial and La Palma. It took me nearly an hour to get there which normally would take me 30 minutes, and then I waited another TWO hours until we met in the parking lot. The drive for my neighbors took THREE HOURS to make it from Sunset Ridge/Serrano to Imperial and La Palma, which on a normal day would take 15 minutes. Fast forward seven years..... traffic in the neighborhoods, especially along Santa Ana Canyon and Serrano has increasingly gotten worse with everyone cutting through AH to avoid the 91 to make their way home to the IE. By adding a 498 unit apartment complex plus normal growth in existing neighborhoods, how on earth will we get out of here SAFELY? I understand there is an evacuation plan, and also talks to widen SAC, but how long will that take and how much will that cost? Given that the Fire Chief, Police Chief and many others are opposing this, I would like to understand how you all think this is a good idea??? Besides the obvious being the financial gain for you all, what are the other benefits of building this in AH? Below are a couple photos to show you how frightening this was to see while driving towards my home knowing I would not be able to get there at that moment or ever again because who knew what the outcome would be, and then having to sit on the other side of the freeway watching the smoke spread, and hearing the non stop sirens. If this project moves forward, I sure hope you are prepared to come up with an even better evacuation plan to get us all out alive. We do not want to experience what happened in Lahaina or Paradise CA. 1 Sincerely, Tracy Stutsky 2
