Subject:\[EXTERNAL\] Stop the Deer Canyon Project!

To Whom it May Concern:
Please DO NOT continue with the Deer Canyon Project. The development of more housing and
hundreds/thousands of people and their vehicles poses terrible traffic and a safety hazard, especially
during fire evacuation emergency situations.
Having to evacuate because of a wildfire threat is frightening. The air is a hazy grey-orange, the smoke
ash and embers are flying through the air like sleet as the Santa Ana winds carry them past the safety of
your car and there are dozens of cars backed up with panicked drivers and passengers inside in front,
behind and beside you. There is nowhere to go when the traffic has completely stopped as you panic with
your young children in the car.
My family has owned a home in the Bel Air neighborhood since 2000. We have had to evacuate our home
during both the Canyon (2017) and Freeway fires (2008). We also had a scare during the Windy Ridge fire
of 2007. Over the years, as additional homes have been built and cars have jammed the streets of
Anaheim Hills, it is of great concern to my husband and I, should there be a reason for us to evacuate
quickly. As it is currently, the Bel Air neighborhood is struggling with our neighborhood being packed with
traffic trying to bypass some of the traffic on the 91 eastbound freeway. This traffic in our neighborhood
makes it difficult for the residents to leave our neighborhood. How much more difficult will it be during an
emergency??
Please DO NOT move forward with the Deer Canyon Project. The safety of my family and the people in
East Anaheim hope and pray that you will see that it would not be in the best interest of our community.
Thank you
Brian and Tracey Williams
