I am very concerned about this project claiming to preserve Dear Canyon but is actually building a large
apartment complex on the preserve land. I cannot imagine how much worse the traffic will be on Santa
Ana Canyon Road as it is already jammed in the afternoon due to the 91 freeway. It takes me 45 mins just
to get from Imperial Highway to Savi Ranch which usually takes 10 minutes.
Mostly I’m concerned about the wildfires in our surrounding area. Trying to follow evacuation orders from
the fire of 2017 was a disaster. It was a standstill on the roads and we kept thinking if we were going to
burn in our car.
Is the fire department or caltrans involved in the planning and rezoning? What is the evacuation plan?
Will there be a new evacuation route? Are we expected to just “shelter in place” because there are so
many cars, we can’t leave?
Please listen to your constituents and their concerns for safety.
Thank you,
