To: Anaheim City Council The proposed SALT Project in Anaheim Hills continues to be a serious concern to Anaheim Hills residents due to several issues: - TRAFFIC: The large amount of traffic that exists on Santa Ana Canyon Road, especially heading East, is already nightmarish starting in the early afternoon (after El Rancho Middle School and Canyon HIgh School dismiss) through 6:30 PM. Beginning at Imperial Highway and the 91 Freeway, we experience an enormous amount of traffic which extends further East. Attempting to get on the 91 Freeway at Weir Canyon Rd. going East is also extremely difficult at present. With the large number of additional residents living at this project the prospects of traveling on this road will be unimaginable. - FIRE: When and if another fire erupts in our area, the additional traffic as mentioned above will surely deadlock the roads within Anaheim Hills, preventing a safe exit with our existing roads. This project will impede the area for exit. - ROAD ACCESS: With the aforementioned concerns, there seemingly has been no mention of a serious addition of road access to assist in the already over-concentrated amount of traffic in our area. It seems prudent at this time to contact CALTRANS regarding a potential extension of S. Fairmont Blvd. to the 91 Freeway and even to E. La Palma Ave. This would be the time to consider this important extension which would no doubt need approval from our state representatives and area residents. Although the cost of such a project would be large, it seems that any large development such as The Salt Project should be providing monies toward any road improvement such as this. Although the architectural plans of the SALT Project are beautiful and do allow us access to a previously inaccessible City Park, the above concerns still loom large in the already crowded conditions of our beloved Anaheim Hills. 1 Please take these considerations seriously and assure the residents of Anaheim Hills that you will continue to serve them and be considerate of our concerns regarding the SALT Project. Sincerely, Barbara Wahlbrink Anaheim Hills, CA 92807 2
