To Anaheim City Council:
I am a resident whose home backs up to Deer Canyon in Anaheim Hills. We bought our home in 1997
and was told by our builder that no homes or structures would ever be built in/or near Deer Canyon. We
highly oppose the building of this luxury apartment complex for a number of reasons.
1. Noise pollution: As it is, any sounds down in the canyon echo up to our homes. There is already
noise pollution from the traffic and train. I cannot imagine the noise pollution that will make its
way through the canyon to our homes from this proposed apartment building housing hundreds of
people, cars, and their pets.
2. Emergency Evacuation/Car traffic : As it is, on any given week day during traffic, there is so
much traffic with cars trying to beat the 91 East Freeway traffic by traveling down Santa Ana Cayon
Road and getting on the freeway at Weir Canyon or Gypsum Canyon. The cars are backed up for
miles on Santa Ana Cayon Road. I can't imagine adding the volume of cars of the families that
would be living in this proposed apartment building to the looming traffic problem we already
have. And all of this, not during an evacuation due to fires.
3. Fire Danger: Living in the Anaheim Hills area for 25 years, we have seen as the population of
people here grow, the possibilities of fire grows, as people can be very negligent. By adding more
people and cars to the mouth of Deer Canyon, we are adding more probabilities of a future fire.
I hope that you will consider how your decision on this matter will effect your constituents that live in
Anaheim Hills.
