Dear Mayor and council members, I’m writing on behalf of myself, my family and my community about the new proposed construction in Deer Park Canyon. I’ve lived in Anaheim for 30 years and I love my community. Unfortunately, the traffic on Santa Ana Canyon is unbearable during the week and on weekend because the 91 freeway vehicles use our street when the 91 is backed up, which is pretty much every day between the hours of 3 and 8 PM in the evening. And I have unfortunately been a part of many fire evacuations Anaheim Hills. The last few were absolutely horrible, trying to make our way out of the area. In some cases, it was faster for me to walk than to use my vehicle. We do not have the infrastructure to have another thousand residence apartments by the movie theaters and int Deer Canyon. The traffic has been getting worse and worse over the past few years in our community, for those of us to live in in Anaheim Hills, we’ve been concerned .I am a teacher at school and I am very active in the Anaheim community. I attended the last meeting from the property division of the city, and I heard the fire department speak and the police department speak about their opposition for the construction of these apartments. I also was under the impression when I purchased my home 30 years ago that all of Deer Park Canyon was protected land, and that land would never be sold or built on homes or at least that’s what I was told. The land was recently sold for single-family homes to be built only. And of course, these big corporations had no intention in building single-family homes and are trying to rezone the property for their own financial gain and benefit. My community has no issues with single-family homes being built on that land. There is something to be said about citizens and individual families and the pride , care and love they have for the land and the community. And that’s what’s made Anaheim Hills special to our family is the sense of community and pride. I have videos of traffic at 3 PM, 4 PM, 5 PM, 6 PM during the week, but I was able to upload them and attach these files to this email. Building Apartments in this vicinity is not the answer to our public safety. I don’t know if anybody on the board or the council lives in Anaheim Hills but if you did, then you would know and understand our concerns and frustration. I live on raspberry lane in the homes above the senior apartments and the festival center. Please help us protect our safety and do the right thing. Blessings, Kim Hughes Sent from my iPhone 1
