My family has lived off of Santa Ana Canyon Road and Fairmont for the last 10 years. Over those years the amount of traffic in our area has increased substantially. More recently, by the 91 commuters. We were involved in the evacuation order from both Canyon fires in 2017 and thankfully, were able to get to our children just prior to the evacuation announcement ONLY due to a close friend of ours being on the fire department and relaying the severity of the situation. It took multiple hours to drive less than 1 mile to either end of Santa Ana Canyon Road that day. By the grace of God and the amazing work of our fire services, we were spared...that time. If we experience another event like the Canyon fires, or worse, even as our population currently stands, along with the increased freeway pass through traffic that is being allowed, we will be trapped and unable to escape any sort of disaster, fire, earthquake or other. As members of the community, I would think this board would recognize the similarities of what the community of Paradise, CA went through and is still going through, and realize how dire this decision is for the community of Anaheim Hills. I implore you to image what you would be feeling if you had to put yourself and your family in a car on the middle of Santa Ana Canyon Road, on a Friday afternoon while our city is under evacuation, think about what the families in Paradise, CA went through as they tried to unsuccessfully escape their fire and then make the right decision. Vote no on the Deer Canyon Project. Sincerely, Jamie Brinker 1
