Dear Planning Commission Members,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed Deer Canyon project. As a resident of Santa
Ana Canyon Road and Fairmont for the past ten years, I have witnessed the significant increase in traffic
in our area, particularly from 91 commuters.
During the Canyon fires in 2017, my family and I were involved in the evacuation order. While we were
fortunate to receive timely information from a friend in the fire department, it took us several hours to
drive less than a mile on Santa Ana Canyon Road due to the heavy traffic.
I am deeply concerned that if another disaster, such as a fire or earthquake, were to occur, the increased
traffic from the Deer Canyon project would make it impossible for residents to evacuate safely. The
situation in Paradise, CA, serves as a tragic reminder of the devastating consequences that can result
from inadequate evacuation routes.
I respectfully urge you to consider the safety of our community and vote against the Deer Canyon project.
Imagine yourself and your family trapped in a car on Santa Ana Canyon Road during an evacuation, and
make the right decision to protect our lives and property.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Carl Brinker
