Dear Members of the Anaheim City Council,
I am writing to express my strong support for the reappointment of Stephen Faessel as Anaheim's
representative on the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) Board of Directors. Mr. Faessel's extensive
experience, proven leadership, and deep passion for serving Anaheim make him the ideal candidate
to continue representing our city in this critical role.
First and foremost, Mr. Faessel's unwavering dedication to the MWD as Anaheim's representative
ensures that our city will remain well-represented at the board level. His genuine commitment to
serving the needs of Anaheim's residents and businesses is evident in his proactive engagement and
advocacy on water issues that directly impact our community.
In addition to his passion, Mr. Faessel's decade of experience on the MWD Board makes him
exceptionally knowledgeable about the organization's operations. This institutional knowledge is
invaluable, particularly given the complexity of water resource management in Southern California.
Replacing him at this juncture would mean losing a seasoned advocate who understands the MWD's
intricacies and its role in securing Anaheim's water future.
Moreover, Mr. Faessel's tenure on the board has allowed him to build significant influence among his
peers. His appointments to three committees, one as a vice-chair, is a testament to his leadership
and the respect he commands within the organization. His continued presence on the board offers
the potential for Anaheim to further benefit from his expanding leadership roles, which could enhance
our city's voice and impact on key water policy decisions.
Now that Mr. Faessel has retired from the City Council, he is uniquely positioned to dedicate even
more time and energy to his work on the MWD Board. This increased availability will enable him to
deepen his involvement, take on additional leadership responsibilities, and further advance Anaheim's
interests within the MWD.
Reappointing Mr. Faessel ensures Anaheim retains a representative with unparalleled experience,
influence, and commitment. His proven track record and readiness to continue serving make him the
clear choice for this role. I urge the City Council to reaffirm its confidence in Mr. Faessel by
reappointing him to the MWD Board of Directors.
